Farshtunkeleh- as a term of endearment to annoying little grandchildren. Also to be applied to others in the fashion of nicknaming someone "Stinky". Not necessarily pointed, or mean. '-eleh' is a diminutive, which can be used in a number of ways. Fageleh is a 'little bird', but it's also a gay man.

Here's an example. I had a friend years ago who worked in heating and air conditioning, drove a service truck, listening to Rush on his radio all day. He was a captive audience - AM radio only - and our friend was not stupid, just suffering from "garbage in, garbage out." It was unbearable... impossible to have an intelligent conversation with him, because all he could talk about was what he heard from Rush... smug comments, not thoughtful discourse. The last straw was when he was visiting one day, and Joan Baez happened to be on TV being interviewed, and this friend said, "... she ought to be taken out and shot." He was in the wrong house. I gave him a history lesson about the Vietnam War and number of lives lost because of false pride and mistakes of judgment. I told him he had to figure out a way to balance his source of input. I think it is true that people have to have more than one source of news - and that there is something wrong for news media to be owned by the same corporation.

George W. Bush and Warren Harding join James Buchanan as being three of our worse POTUSes in history. Bush in particular set a new low and left a lot of unfinished work for his successor. Healthcare was a BFD as Biden noted as well as saving our financial system. Repairing our image in the world was important as well.

I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.

I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!

Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.

I went downtown, saw Katie in the nude
on Common Avenue, detracted soltitude
as it were, like a dream-state rosely hued,
like no one else could see her; DAMN! I phewed;

was reciprokelly then, thank heaven, viewed,
bestowed unique hard-on! but NOT eschewed,
contrair-ee-lee, she took a somewhat rude
'n readidy attude of Sex Prelude; it BREWED!

And for a start, i hiccuped "Hi!", imbued
with Moooood! She toodledooed: "How queued
your awe-full specie-ally-tee, Sir Lewd,
to prove (alas!), to have me finely screwed,

and hopef'lly afterwards beloved, wooed,

By sitting down for a beer with Prof Gates and Mr. Crowley to talk about race and politics, President Obama is demonstrating a level of maturity and wisdom that is beyond any of the talking heads on FOX.

Thanks for posting. It was flawed both in draft and execution. I guess my point was twofold: (1) Even with the flaws, I still expected it to pass because of the green/solar/jobs messaging and (2) I would say that Ron Kaye, et al. had more to do with defeating the bill than anything the Mayor did/did not do.

There were many flaws with this ballot item. The first one is amending the city charter for the Solar Initiative itself. The Charter is a governance document and should not be amended for a project done by a city owned department. That being said, our city charter would specify one union who would be allowed to do the work at the expense of all others. Third, the city could not tell us the voters who will pay for this how much this project will cost. Fourth the city could and is now doing the project anyway because our vote wasn't needed for the project. Need I go on?
